APTA Colorado is excited to announce Emily Gee, PT, DPT, OCS, as our 2026 Emerging Leader Award recipient. Emily will be recognized, along with the other state award recipients, in PT Magazine this fall.
Emily currently serves on the APTA Colorado Board of Directors as the Special Interest Group (SIG) Director. In July, she attended the APTA House of Delegates in Portland, Oregon, gaining valuable experience as the chapter’s alternate delegate.
Advocacy is central to Emily’s professional values. She has been an active member of both the California and Colorado chapters of APTA and has participated in Capitol Hill Days in both states.
Emily is an incredible asset to the chapter and works tirelessly to support our SIG directors as they engage members across Colorado. Congratulations, Emily!
Dr. Gee is a physical therapist, certified yoga instructor, and board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy who lives in Commerce City, Colorado. She also has a background in music. After injuries forced her to leave her music career in 2010, she pursued physical therapy with the goal of serving the music community through health promotion, wellness, and injury prevention.
For seven years, she practiced full time in outpatient orthopedic clinics in Aurora and Westminster, Colorado. In August 2025, she began a new full-time role as director of the Musicians’ Wellness Program at the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music.
A Bay Area native, Dr. Gee earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Joint University of California, San Francisco, and San Francisco State University DPT Program. She completed an orthopedic physical therapy residency at Regis University in Colorado and became a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist in 2023.
