Mile High District: Blood Flow Restriction – A Not So New Tool in Rehab
Synopsis : This webinar will provide a brief overview of the clinical use and current applications of Blood Flow Restriction Training
Speaker: Jonathan Brown PT, DPT, OCS
Jonathan Brown is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist who resides in Nashville, TN. His background experience in various orthopedic and neurological settings over the past 11 years has shaped his clinical interests and passions to further pursue performance rehab, chronic pain management, and neuromuscular science. He served a single term at the APTA House of Delegates for Tennessee in 2023-2025 and was a member of the APTA Tennessee Imaging Task Force where approval was gained from State Related Boards acknowledging that ordering imaging for a PT is within profession’s scope of practice in Tennessee. He serves on the advisory boards of Tennessee State University’s DPT Program, South College Nashville’s PTA Program, and Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s Sports Medical Advisory Committee. He enjoys trail running, bike riding, playing rugby, rock climbing, and hybrid athletic competitions.

Course Objectives
At the conclusion of the course the participant will:
1. Demonstrate understanding of appropriate clinical use for Blood Flow Restriction interventions
2. Demonstrate understanding of the updated evidence to support Blood Flow Restriction interventions
3. To provide clinicians with introductory knowledge of blood flow restriction training.
4. Be able to describe basic use and concepts of blood flow restriction training.
5. Identify appropriate patient populations and conditions that will benefit from blood flow restriction
training.
6. Describe the benefits of using blood flow restriction training in different populations; from the
performance athlete to the geriatric patient.
7. Identify contraindications and precautions of blood flow restriction training
8. Learn safe and appropriate equipment to use with blood flow restriction training
