Tami Struessel, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, and a senior instructor at the University of Colorado’s Physical Therapy Program, next week is to receive the 2012 Feitelberg Journal Founders’ Award from the Education Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
The award recognizes excellence in the preparation of a manuscript by a first-time author in the Journal of Physical Therapy Education. The Feitelberg Journal Founder’s Award was initiated by Dr. Samuel Feitelberg, founder of the Journal, in 1987. The definition of a first time author is a sole author or first author of a multi-authored manuscript who has 3 or less peer reviewed publications.
Struessel is being honored for “Student Perception of Applying Joint Manipulation Skills During Physical Therapist Clinical Education: Identification of Barriers,” which was published in Volume 26, No. 2, Spring 2012, of The Journal.
She is to receive the award in San Diego at the Education Section Business Meeting of Combined Sections Meeting of the APTA. The meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.
“Let us personally congratulate you again on providing a stimulus for reflection and action by physical therapy educators through your article,” Laurita M. Hack and Jan Gwyer, The Journal’s co-editors, wrote recently. “We look forward to participating in the recognition of your work through this important award.”
Struessel received APTA Colorado’s Outstanding Physical Therapist Award in 2009 and its Bob Doctor Service Award in 2007.
